My favorite foods are espresso and gelato because one time I went to Italy and it set the course for my love affair with food. I also learned to appreciate wine there, and I'm always looking for more ways to throw garlic, tomatoes, and basil into things. That said, I also pretty much try any kind of recipe, and I'm working on not being afraid of baking! Oh, I am also notorious for eating laboriously slow, like I'm trying to pace myself for the longest eating marathon in the world. However, I am also notorious for consuming surprisingly large and varied amounts of food; it just takes me five times as long to finish!

Sausage, Peppers and Onions

I have a confession to make: I may be developing a girl crush on Giada De Laurentiis. This is despite all the times I’ve expressed slight fear of her huge, toothy grin and the times I’ve mused over how large her head seems to be on her tiny body.  Those elements aside (it also helps [...]

Chicken and Mushroom Marsala

Continuing in my obsession with this lady’s food , I made this tasty dish today. The onions and mushrooms come together very nicely with the sweetness of the marsala, and the chicken cooked in the sauce is ridiculously tender. Also, no fear of overcooking the chicken in an attempt to escape salmonella! Cooking the chicken in [...]

Should this be the blog theme song?

Peruvian Chicken

I found this lovely recipe from a local blogger at Andrea’s Recipes, and although I do not own a grill pan or grill, I wanted to try it! Yesterday I made a big batch of these for people before we watched the BSG finale, and results were conclusively good.  I made the marinade the night [...]

Gemelli with Smoked Salmon and Creamy Vodka Sauce

This recipe from the Food Network (Emeril, to be exact) is one of my favorite pasta dishes because it actually is really easy to make but tastes like a restaurant dish.  There’s quite a bit of chopping involved, but nothing is really difficult to chop.   I made it yesterday for people and it [...]

Scanwiches

I just found this and thought it should be passed on:  Scanwiches
It’s a blog for scanned pictures of sandwiches, as the name would suggest… at first it’s a bit gross but then it becomes kind of fascinating!

Scones!

So today I made two types of scones for tea at Karen’s house! I made some cranberry scones that I got from this recipe on Smitten Kitchen (my favorite food blog!). I also altered that recipe to make a batch of savory bacon and cheddar scones, which turned out quite well.  The cranberry ones were [...]
